Spanish Language Classes and Groups Autumn 2011 to Summer 2012

The Society runs a number of Spanish Language Courses specifically for adult members only. If you are studying Spanish at college or elsewhere you are very welcome to join our Conversation sessions but we would prefer you to wait until you have finished your course before joining one of our more formal courses.

"How Spanish Works" course - Beginers or Improvers

12 weeks - Three courses throughout the year. Autumn, Winter and Spring/Summer 7pm until 9pm for one evening a week - the actual evening is subject to negotiation at the start of the course. At tutor's home in Havant No cost Led by an experienced and learned tutor who has taught for the Society for 15 years, this is a course for anyone - whether beginners or coming with some knowledge of Spanish already- who would like a course in the grammar of Spanish. In the first sessions it should help those who want to try to speak and understand some Spanish on holiday, without taking the whole course. Completion of the full 12 weeks should give you a thorough grounding in Spanish Grammar. You will need a pocket dictionary and possibly a phrasebook. Knowing another language, such as French, though not essential will be helpful and make the course more fun. Good study skills and note-taking would also be an advantage.

Conversation Group(Daytime)

Sessions are standalone so regular attendance is not essential
On-going all year but sessions are not held when the leader is away. Wednesday 10.00 to 11.00am At tutor's home in Cosham No cost Informal and fun group activities designed to get you talking Spanish to others and working with them. The group leader is a fluent Spanish speaker (though he modestly insists on emphasizing that he is not grammatically disciplined). He knows Spain , especially Madrid, and the Spanish people very well. You will need some prior knowledge of Spanish and you will also need to be prepared to put your theory into practice and have a go at talking in Spanish with others in a friendly and relaxed environment.
